Something different to share today

Happy National Scrapbook Day (tomorrow!) I am headed to an all-day crop. I hope you have something fun planned too!

My Wheel Experience...

... Never happened. After reading a lot more about the audition process and how it works, I decided not to go. Here's why: the auditions are attended by thousands of people and only about 3 dozen of those get a chance to go on stage and play a puzzle. Of those that are randomly selected to play a puzzle, only about half of those get invited to a second audition, and only a few of get on the show.

Now, I know that you will never make it if you don't audition, and even after I found out that my changes were about 1 in 10,000, I still debated for most of the week about going. In the end, a family day at home won out. Maybe I will give it a shot in a few years when the wheelmobile comes this way again, but for this year... I am afraid that spending the day driving and waiting just wasn't quite appealing enough!

Since I was home on Saturday, I had the chance to create this layout for The Color Room (palette #3). Most of this was out of my scrap drawer, with a sheet of Couture Cardstock for the base. The story is about my son, who even at 2-1/2, wants to know how everything works. The photos are of the kids coloring Easter eggs, and of course he wanted the explanation as to how the dye worked!

Reading to Daddy

My daughter read her first book a few days ago. She is learning phonics, and she was able to read the "short a" little reader all by herself! I created this layout with the photos I took of her reading the same book to Daddy that night when he came home. She was SOOO proud of herself!

This layout uses almost entirely Prima. I love all their new papers, I don't think I have enough of them! The felt and transparencies are also Prima. The background and lettering is Couture Cardstock.

Tomorrow I am going to audition for Wheel of Fortune. How cool is that?! Keeping my fingers crossed that I at least get called up on stage, I hear the odds are about 100:1. Gotta give it a try, though, for what it's worth, right? :) I'll let you know how it goes.

YSS and Studio Calico

I have spent the last few days working out of my box from Your Scrapbook Stash, and let me just say... YUMMY! I was SO inspired by the Anthologies line from Studio Calico. Given that it's not really a summer line (it has travel themes) it still worked out pretty well for these 3 summery layouts. LOVE IT!

This first layout says 2 Kids, 1 Melon, 1 happy mom, 2 great photos, 1 great snack. :)

This layout is about my son and his love of beverages (he get's it from me). The journaling reads: "Like me, my son will go just about anywhere if he has a good beverage." LOL. I also used a few Salutations Thickers. My new favorite lettering, I LOVE them.

This photo was taken when my husband and I visited the Dana-Thomas House in Springfield, Illinois. We we not allowed to take photos inside, but I snapped a few outside as we were walking away. I am loving the colors in this layout! I used up nearly an entire pack of Studio Calico rub-ons and some of the rub-on packaging.
